Haneda Airport From Soramunade
About the Haneda Airport Camera
Haneda, officially Tokyo International Airport, is the busiest airport in Japan and one of the busiest in the world. It sits on reclaimed land at the mouth of the Tama River, barely fifteen kilometres from central Tokyo, and handles a continuous stream of domestic flights alongside a growing international schedule.
This camera films from Soramunade, a riverside promenade on the Ota City side of the water. It is a known spotting position: close enough that aircraft fill the frame on approach, and positioned so that the runways and the taxiing traffic behind them stay in view.
The airport never really stops, but it has a rhythm. Early morning brings the first domestic departures in quick succession, late evening brings the long-haul arrivals, and the small hours are quieter but never empty. On clear winter days Mount Fuji appears behind the airport.
