Lake Kawaguchiko Sightseeing Boat

Yamanashi LIVE --:--:-- JST

About the Lake Kawaguchiko Boat Camera

Lake Kawaguchiko is the most visited of the Fuji Five Lakes, and this camera watches the landing of its sightseeing boat, the Appare, at Funatsu-hama about ten minutes on foot from Kawaguchiko Station.

The boat itself is worth a look. It is built in the shape of an atakebune, the heavy warship of Japan's warring states period, as a nod to the naval forces of the Takeda clan who ruled this province. The design carries the Takeda diamond crest and the deep red of the clan's famous akazonae units.

On a clear day Mount Fuji stands directly across the water behind the boat, which is the view most people come to Kawaguchiko for. The lake also mirrors the mountain in still conditions, and the shoreline here turns through cherry blossom in spring and red maple in autumn.
