About This Camera

Live view of Miyajima (Itsukushima Island) in Hiroshima, Japan, featuring the world-famous floating torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Watch changing tides, seasonal weather, and panoramic views of the Seto Inland Sea, traditional Japanese architecture, and the forested slopes of Mount Misen. This scenic webcam captures one of Japan's most iconic landscapes and top tourist destinations, known for its historic shrine, roaming deer, hiking trails, and stunning sunsets.

Miyajima's official name is Itsukushima, though almost everyone calls it Miyajima ("Shrine Island").

Itsukushima Shrine dates back over 1,400 years, with the current shrine largely developed in the 12th century under the powerful military leader Taira no Kiyomori.

The island was considered so sacred that common people were traditionally discouraged from being born or buried there. For centuries, visitors approached the shrine by boat, passing through the torii gate as if entering a holy realm.

Today, Miyajima is one of Japan's most celebrated scenic destinations and is counted among the traditional "Three Views of Japan."
