Tedako-Uranishi Station Area
About the Tedako-Uranishi Camera
A camera from the 8131 okichan channel looking over the new development around Tedako-Uranishi Station, on the border of Urasoe and Nishihara, including the site of AEON Mall Uranishi. From its hillside position it takes in the building site and the town spreading beyond.
Tedako-Uranishi is the end of the Yui Rail, Okinawa’s only urban railway. The monorail was extended here from Shuri in 2019, adding four stations, and the farmland around the new terminus has been turning into a park-and-ride hub and a new commercial district since.
This is a camera for watching change rather than scenery: earthworks, cranes and new buildings going up over months. Coming back every few weeks shows how quickly the area is filling in.
