Tokyo Bay from Yokosuka, North View
About the Yokosuka North View Camera
A camera on the seawall in Yokosuka, on the Kanagawa side of Tokyo Bay, pointed north up the bay. It is the first of the Tokyo Bay Live Camera Kanagawa channel’s cameras, and it takes in a wide stretch of sea and sky.
Ships bound for Yokohama, Tokyo and Chiba all enter through the Uraga Channel at the mouth of the bay, a passage only about 7 km wide that carries several hundred vessels a day, so there is usually shipping somewhere on the water.
Facing north, the camera catches the morning light to the right and the weather moving down the bay from Tokyo. It is a quick way to see whether the sea is calm and the sky clear on the Miura Peninsula.
